Recent grants offered by

the Friends of Somerset Churches and Chapels.

 

The Trustees normally meet four times a year in January, April, July and October to approve the offer of grants.

 

Most recently, at their meeting in January 2012, the Trustees approved the following offers of grants:

  • Frome, Holy Trinity – £5,000 -  stonework repairs to the West end gable
  • Bruton, St Mary the Virgin - £3,000 – window repairs, including associated  metal and stonework repairs
  • Norton Malreward, Holy Trinity - £3,000 – community facilities
  • Whitestaunton, St Andrew - £3,000 – restoration of leaded windows and metalwork

 

Total :  £14,000.

 

 

At the meeting of Trustees in October 2011 the following grants were offered:

 

  • Clatworthy, St Mary Magdalene - £500 – replacement of wall panelling and sections of the floor.
  • Huish Episcopi, BVM - £3,000 – re-leading of south slopes of the nave and chapel roof.
  • Merriott, All Saints - £3,000 – recovering of the north nave roof.
  • Norton sub Hamdon, St Mary the Virgin - £5,000 – repairs to the windows.
  • Ston Easton, BVM - £3,000 – recover north aisle roof and stonework repairs..

 

Total : £14,500.

 

We are now rapidly approaching a total of £500,000 that has been made or is currently offered in grants to churches and chapels in Somerset since the Trust was founded in July 1996.

 

The next meeting of Trustees for the approval of grants

will be held on 21st April 2012

 

Grant applications are invited now from churches and chapels planning repair work to the fabric of their building or work needed for its greater community use.
