Does your church or chapel need help? - How to apply for a grant

The Trust gives careful and sympathetic consideration to requests for advice and help, both financial and in preparation of appeals to other funds. We work in association with the Historic Churches Preservation Trust and keep in touch with English Heritage.

Our grants are usually restricted to the main fabric of the church building such as walls, windows, roofs, drainage systems and floor. We only support churches and chapels open for worship in the historic county of Somerset.

    Maintenance
    Much damage can be caused simply as a result of poor maintenance. Implementing a schedule of regular maintenance is a great help in avoiding such damage and costly repairs. Guidance on church building maintenance can be found on the website of the Society for the Preservation of Ancient Buildings (SPAB) under Faith in Maintenance;
    and also at the Church of England Churchcare site
